@chip_bennett "Themes [...] Theme Repository are not allowed to open or write to files" wordpress.org/support/topic/… ehm, details for the rule?..
no_fear_incMario Y. Peshev
@Rarst funny thing is PageLines which is #5 popular at repo, has it's own file read impl to work around file_get_contents @chip_bennett
RarstAndrey Savchenko
@chip_bennett *sigh* what's up with people sending me to places today... WPSE Q won't do? :) I couldn't find anything in Codex on it...
nacinAndrew Nacin
@Rarst You're gonna have a bad time getting official answers to questions if you consciously avoid official channels. It's fairly insulting.
nacinAndrew Nacin
@Rarst No, it's just stubborn and silly. You have people willing to directly address your issue. No need to disrespect chosen venues.
RarstAndrey Savchenko
@nacin I won't be involving you in any of my questions going forward, I am sorry if you feel like I have abused that (but no more)
nacinAndrew Nacin
@Rarst What I picture: "Yeah, that's a bug, can you file a ticket?" Then you link me to a WPSE thread. Not far off from what has happened.
EricMannEric Mann
@nacin @Rarst I agree with that example. But asking someone to join a mail list to ask a question when we have other forums is a bit much.
DrewAPictureDrew Jaynes
@EricMann @nacin @Rarst It's not just about the mailing lists though. The forums, even IRC sure seem like relevant alternatives.
RarstAndrey Savchenko
@DrewAPicture @EricMann @nacin constant scavenger hunt for right combination of channel and person is part of "official channels" issue
RarstAndrey Savchenko
@chip_bennett @nacin @DrewAPicture @EricMann how is developer from the street informed where to come with question on guidelines?
chip_bennettChip Bennett
@DrewAPicture @Rarst I can certainly ensure links are as visible as possible. But everyone in this convo knows already how to find them
RarstAndrey Savchenko
@DrewAPicture @chip_bennett there are links from codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Review but no mention what is proper way to ask question on it
DrewAPictureDrew Jaynes
@Rarst @EricMann @nacin So the choice is to instead pick a venue where that falls completely outside supported channels? I don't get it.
chip_bennettChip Bennett
@DrewAPicture @EricMann @nacin @Rarst the Theme Review Team doesn't use IRC, wporg forums, or WPSE for comms. We use mail list & make/themes
chip_bennettChip Bennett
@EricMann @nacin @Rarst no. The mail list *is* the official medium for discussion of Theme Review/Guidelines. Has been for almost 3 years
RarstAndrey Savchenko
@chip_bennett @EricMann @nacin which people should know how precisely? the closest list mention I can find from Codex is rules for _joining_
