A birds-eye view of my new city, shortly after its founding. Still all low-density development. #simcity http://t.co/hkvkzJKR

@oceanquigley 10 to 1 the road in the background is leading to a smelly dump.

January 9, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@frogsquadron Hah! Yeah, the dump & the sewage outflow pipe are down the road to the left, past the factories.

@oceanquigley how do you get rid of ground pollution before it spreads and contaminates your industrial district?

January 9, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@frogsquadron It will slowly dissipate on its own. If you're pumping water from there, you'll need to add filtration to your pump, or else.

@oceanquigley what about dumps? I'm afraid my city's space is gonna be taken up by dumps and smell accordingly.

January 9, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@frogsquadron You can always start another city nearby for that...

January 9, 2013 #

frogsquadron François Hardy
@oceanquigley that sounds like a ticking time bomb. Is any of the great works a sort of super recycling place that can handle ALL THE FILTH?

@oceanquigley how does zone density upgrading work? Do you have to bulldoze the lot or can you just click it and raise the density?

January 9, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@payco It'll upgrade on its own if demand is high enough (and if the road type supports it - e.g. no skyscrapers on dirt roads)

January 9, 2013 #

payco Matthew Abbott
@oceanquigley interesting. My first thought is “what if I want to limit density?” But I guess a boulevard wouldn’t make sense along houses.

@oceanquigley now that I think about it, what if I want to emulate many downtowns and keep small 1-way roads among skyscrapers?

January 13, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@payco Skyscrapers will develop on 24m roads. We don't have one-way roads, though.

January 13, 2013 #

payco Matthew Abbott
@oceanquigley 24m? Like a 1-lane-each-way road with good pavement?

January 13, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@payco Exactly.

@oceanquigley what is the blue structure across the bridge?

January 9, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@ShawnMSmith1 That's just another water tower.

@oceanquigley This looks like a new climate (based on the white balance + evergreen trees)... will there be multiple climates?

January 9, 2013 #

oceanquigley Ocean Quigley
@leftparen Nope - just one climate for now - basically a Mediterranean style, with wet winters and dry summers.
